Job Description

About Rox

Rox is an AI-native B2B revenue intelligence company. We are a Series A startup under active construction. Seven months ago we were just under 60 people. Today we are closing in on 130. We move fast, we ship constantly, and we build with the same AI-native systems we sell to our customers.

About the Team

Talent at Rox has been a team of one. That is about to change.

We are hiring a full-time Talent Community Lead to own the community of engineers and builders around Rox, and how Rox engineering culture shows up in that community. You report to our Head of Talent, Erin Wilson.

Location: This role is based in our San Francisco office. You need to be in the office a minimum of three days a week.

Why This Role Is Community-Specific

This is one of the most visible seats at Rox. You are our face in the AI-native community: the person builders meet at hackathons and meetups, the name behind the technical content they read, and the reason our engineering leads show up at the right events with the right story. Many of the engineers we hire will meet Rox through you first.

We are hiring for community and engineering culture on purpose. This role owns the community of engineers and builders around Rox, maps the AI-native talent market so we know who to meet, and turns how Rox engineers build into programs that grow with us. It is a very important job, and it shapes how engineers see Rox. If you would rather be in the room with builders than behind a desk, and engineers trust you to tell their story, we'd love to talk.

What You Will Do

  • Be a regular, visible presence in the AI-native scene: hackathons, meetups, and builder events, and the conversations there that turn into relationships and hires

  • Build and run the Rox community of engineers and builders: our own events, hackathons, and the people who keep showing up

  • Plan and coordinate our engineering leads' IRL event presence through the year: which events we attend, who goes, what they talk about, and how every conversation gets followed up

  • Own our hackathon presence at events like Hack the North and HackMIT, from plan and travel to follow-up, and hand the strongest people to the Talent team

  • Run market mapping of AI-native talent and companies: who is building what, where the strongest engineers are, and who we want to meet now and later, kept live in our internal talent graph and community feed

  • Write and coordinate technical blog content with our engineers: pick topics, get posts drafted, edited, and shipped, and package the Rox engineering brand into content the whole company can reuse

  • Nurture strong people who are not ready to move yet, so Rox is the first call when they are

  • Stand up alumni and referral networks that keep strong builders close to Rox

  • Turn Rox engineering culture into repeatable community programs: eng talks, dinners, open-source work, and campus relationships with schools like MIT, Waterloo, and Caltech

  • Represent Rox at events, on stage, and online as a face of the company

  • Get hands-on with the Rox product itself, including regular dogfooding, so you can sell the mission with real conviction

What We Are Looking For

  • Required: Experience building and running a developer or builder community, DevRel program, or engineering events at a high-growth company. You have built a community people chose to join, and you can show the numbers.

  • Plus: Hackathon or campus programs, a background in engineering or developer relations, or technical writing.

  • Engineering fluency. Engineers trust you to represent how they work. You can hold a real conversation about what they are building and why it is hard.

  • Plugged into the AI-native builder scene. You already show up at AI-native hackathons and meetups in San Francisco, and you know who is building what.

  • Market mapping experience. You have mapped a talent market or a set of companies and turned it into a list people acted on.

  • Operator or player first. You do not wait for a lane to be defined, you build it. You take a program from blank page to up and running without being managed through every step.

  • High-impact outlier. You look for leverage everywhere and you are not precious about title or scope.

  • Amazing human above all. Rox is a small team doing a lot, and how you treat people matters as much as what you ship.

  • Clear, specific writing. You are comfortable writing and editing technical content, and engineers trust you with their words.

  • A track record of ownership, speed, craftsmanship, and learning velocity, the same bar we hold every candidate to at Rox.

  • Real pull toward Rox specifically. Between two similarly qualified candidates, the one who wants to be here, who has done the homework on the product and the mission, wins. Passion for what we're building is a genuine tiebreaker in this process.

Compensation

Base salary range: $150,000 to $200,000 USD.

Total compensation includes benefits, stock options, and perks.

A Note on How We Hire

At Rox, we evaluate for ownership, client obsession, craftsmanship, speed, pivot ability, collaboration, cross-functional impact, systems thinking, and learning velocity. We expect this role, more than any other, to embody that bar.
