Department Overview

CPB Finance (Canadian Personal Banking) is responsible for delivering performance reporting, financial analysis, forecasting, planning, and expense allocation activities. The team's mandate includes partnering closely with business and finance stakeholders to provide value-added insights, inform strategic decision-making, develop business cases, provide advice and effective challenge, and establish metrics to monitor benefit realization, productivity initiatives, and overall business performance.

 

Job Description

The Finance Manager supports the achievement of CPB COO business objectives through financial planning, performance management, strategic analysis, and decision support. The role delivers actionable insights to business and finance leaders, helping drive financial performance, resource optimization, and execution of strategic priorities.

 

Success in this role requires a strategic thinker and proactive business partner who combines strong financial acumen with the ability to influence decision-making, challenge constructively, and develop practical solutions. The successful candidate will be recognized for delivering meaningful insights, driving continuous improvement, building strong stakeholder relationships, and contributing to a high-performing team culture.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide financial leadership and decision support for business initiatives, acting as a trusted advisor to business leaders and ensuring appropriate financial, accounting, and governance considerations are incorporated into recommendations and business outcomes.
  • Support financial and strategic analysis for executive and management teams, consolidating information from multiple financial and operational sources and translating insights into actionable recommendations, executive presentations, and briefing materials.
  • Lead reporting, forecasting, and planning activities for assigned portfolios, providing clear insights into financial performance, key drivers, risks, opportunities, and emerging trends.
  • Provide input to partner Finance teams as required for monthly reporting, quarterly forecasts, annual planning, and other performance management activities.
  • Support business case development, investment evaluation, benefit tracking, and productivity initiatives to ensure financial commitments are well understood and expected outcomes are achieved.
  • Leverage data, visualization, automation tools, and analytical frameworks (including Power BI, Power Query, Copilot, and AI-enabled solutions) to improve decision support, reporting efficiency, forecasting capabilities, and business insights.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, and enhance financial processes, reporting, controls, and documentation while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance and business partners across Canadian Personal Banking, serving as a subject matter expert on key components of the CPB P&L while maintaining an enterprise-wide perspective.
  • Contribute to a high-performing team environment through leadership, coaching, knowledge sharing, collaboration, and support across the CPB Finance organization.

 

Job Requirements

 

Finance & Business Acumen

  • Prior relevant experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Management Reporting, Finance Business Partnering, or related finance functions.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical capability, with the ability to quickly absorb information on complex financial and non-financial issues, identify key drivers, and develop actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, connect financial outcomes to business priorities, and identify risks and opportunities that support informed decision-making.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting systems, planning tools, accounting principles, and management reporting practices. Experience with TD Finance systems is considered an asset.

 

Communication & Influence

  • Ability to synthesize complex financial and operational information into clear, concise insights and recommendations for executive audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently, transparently, and concisely across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build effective partnerships across Finance, Strategy, Product, Technology, Operations, and Business teams.
  • Strong relationship management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across a broad range of stakeholders and functions.

 

Execution & Leadership

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and consistently deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, and proactively identify opportunities to add value.
  • Highly motivated, customer-focused, and results-oriented individual with a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and execution excellence.

 

Data, Analytics & Technology

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, with proficiency in Power BI and other data analytics tools, and demonstrated ability to build scalable reporting, analytical, and visualization solutions.
  • Experience leveraging Copilot, AI-enabled tools, automation, workflow technologies, and analytics to improve productivity, reporting, business outcomes, and team effectiveness.

 

Education / Accreditations

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Analytics, or a related field.
  • CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent professional designation is preferred.
  • Experience in analytics, business intelligence, data science, or related disciplines is considered an asset.
